FREE PERSONAL WEB SPACE

WesTex Connect's internet customers receive up to 10 megs of personal web space FREE of charge.  You may design your own web page and FTP it to your home directory on our server. 

HOW DO I GET STARTED?

To get your web page started...you will need to notify WesTex Connect by email at INFO.  From there you will receive a confirmation email when your account has been properly set up. 

ARE THERE ANY RULES OR REGULATIONS CONCERNING THIS USE?

YES - As with most ISP's -- there are rules and regulations concerning your site.

• You must notify INFO (by email) before uploading a web page to the server.
• Once you receive a confirmation email, you may upload your web page(s) to the specified location.
• You must email INFO again, to state that you have successfully uploaded your web page.
• After WesTex has received your second email, we will review the site for content.  If WesTex approves the site--we will provide a link on our User's Home Pages page so that others may view your site.
• Your site will be monitoring periodically to make sure the site still complies with WesTex Connect's Rules and Regulations for Web Pages.
• WesTex Connect does not allow any XXX, Adult Content, or Pornographic Material on our sites including personal web pages.
• Our FREE web pages must contain ONLY personal information.  This means no selling or commercial business on these sites.  If you wish to have a business site, please contact INFO concerning the prices--HOSTING as low as $9.95 a month.

CAN WESTEX DESIGN A WEB PAGE FOR ME?

SURE - WesTex Connect can design a simple personal web page for about $25 (depending on content and developing time) and upload it for you.  WesTex Connect can also do any maintenance to your web page (for an additional charge) each time if you would like this service. 

MY WEB PAGE IS DESIGNED--HOW DO I SEND IT TO THE SERVER?

CONGRATULATIONS! You have a web page and now you need to upload it to the server so that everyone can view your page.

There are few steps for you to follow to successfully upload your page:

• First, you will need a FTP (file transfer protocol) program in order to send your web page from your computer to WesTex Connect's server where it will pbe placed online.  If you do not have a FTP program--you may download a FREE FTP program by going to Download.com and typing in FTP in their Download Search.  You can also go get an evaluation of WS-FTP.
• Now, open your FTP program and set up your connection.  The Host Name will be wtconnect.com or you may use the IP address of 204.255.2.2.  The FTP Username and Password will be the one assigned to you in your confirmation email.
• Once logged on to the server, you will need to Create A Directory--call this directory public_html.  VERY IMPORTANT!--Your web page files must be uploaded to this directory or you will not be able to see them properly.  Make sure the first (your home page) is called index.html.
• After uploading your pages, you should be able to go to www.wtconnect.com/~yourusername to view your pages.
• There will be a link on our User Home Pages web page so that others may view your site.
